3rd Term 2012 Newsletter
Ten months have elapsed and with only two months to go before we come to the end of 2012, it is amazing how time seems to fly past. As you take stock of the year my prayer is that you have gained valuable lessons from challenges faced and created beautiful memories to celebrate and remember this fast fading year. Time is such a precious resource which cannot be renewed and it is important for us to take account of the blessings that have been bestowed upon us.
We have had our fair share of achievements which enable us to reflect on the year with some measure of satisfaction. Our 4 Science Labs, Geography and Travel and Tourism rooms have now been fitted with Promethean Boards, a move that has enhanced the teaching –learning process of these subjects. We acquired a brand new 16 seater Quantum vehicle which will offer versatility and comfort to our girls as they travel on field trips or sporting fixtures. We managed to procure a good stock of reference books for our reference library. This process is on-going and enables our girls to access current subject information from various renowned authors. Our school Hall received a face lift that also saw us putting up new curtains and new art work for our back-drop.
Our girls did exceptionally well in National writing competitions that were held throughout the year namely Cover to Cover, POTRAZ and Ozone Layer by EMA. Two of them came 1stand one came 2nd. At District level the school scooped numerous subject prizes as well as being awarded best O and A level school. At the Provincial Merit Awards Ceremony the school was awarded numerous best performing subject prizes including the best O level school Prize. These are some of the 2012 achievements for which we are thankful for and excited about.
The O and A level candidates are currently writing their examinations and the non-exam classes are getting ready for their Internal Examinations which start on 7 November for the Senior Forms and 9 November for the Junior Forms. As usual we are counting on your support in assisting the girls to adhere to their study timetables and focus at this crucial time of year.
Internal exams end on Friday 16 November at 12 pm. Please pick up your daughter then as school will end early on this day.
Girls are not allowed to wander around in town at lunch time or after school. This is a serious offence which attracts serious penalty. I am appealing to you parents to stand with us on this issue so that we teach our girls the importance of time management.
Sadly we bid farewell to Mrs. Van Der Berg who will be relocating to S.Africa at the end of the year. She has been a pleasure to work with at the front office for the past 8 years.
Plans for the 2013 French Trip are already underway. If you intend for your daughter to participate in this exciting excursion please ensure you are up to date with deadlines and details that will be released soon.
A reminder to parents whose school fees Accounts are still outstanding: please ensure that the balance is paid off by the 30th of October. Please note that failure to settle your Account by this date may jeopardize the chances of your daughter writing her end of year examinations. For parents whose daughters are in Form 4, your Account was to be settled before schools opened. If this is not the case your daughter is not likely to be considered for L6 next year. All Form 4s are reminded to hand in all school Textbooks on 23 November between 10am and 1pm.
The A level class of 2012 will soon be bidding us farewell and it breaks our hearts to have to say goodbye. Nevertheless, with a song in our hearts we send them off into the world, trusting that they will prosper in all their endeavours and bring God’s love to everyone they meet.
Best wishes to all the girls sitting for examinations and happy preparations for the approaching festive season.
